Engagement
Through a comprehensive community engagement process, Canopy Lands is committed to keeping neighbours and the community informed throughout the project. Multiple opportunities will be provided to discuss the project, ask questions and provide feedback.
Past Engagement
On Saturday, February 5, 2022, the project team held Community Coffee Chats at Weedon Hall from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m.
The purpose of the these meetings were to:
- Introduce the project team
- Share information on the history of the approved planning policy for the area
- Share the preliminary vision and intent for Neighbourhood C
- Answer questions, collect input to be considered during concept refinement
- Establish future communication methods with the community
Online Survey & What We Heard Report
An online survey was available on the project website until February 14, 2022. A What We Heard report has been prepared, summarizing all questions and feedback received through the coffee chats, online survey and email correspondence with community members. This report will be shared with Rocky View County.
Project Update
Canopy Lands has completed an assessment of impact to neighbouring wells and a Transportation Impact Analysis (TIA) to assess the capacities of all surrounding roadways and traffic conditions expected to be created by development within Neighbourhood C.
The draft Conceptual Scheme and Land Use Amendment application were submitted to Rocky View County in May 2022 along with the supporting technical studies. Please see the Conceptual Scheme, Groundwater Assessment and Transportation Impact Analysis in the Project Resources section below. We will continue to share information through the website and email subscriber list and will engage individually with area residents.
Frequently Asked Questions
The Conceptual Scheme and Land Use Amendment will be supported by a range of baseline and technical studies, which will be supplemented by feedback received through community engagement. Technical studies will include:
- Transportation Impact Assessment
- Biophysical Impact Assessment / Environmental Screening
- Historical Resources Assessment
- Servicing Study
- Stormwater Drainage Plan
- Geotechnical Assessment
- Architectural Guidelines
The purpose of the Conceptual Scheme is to provide a comprehensive policy framework to guide land use redesignations and future subdivision applications. A Conceptual Scheme outlines the open space design, servicing and road networks. The Cochrane Lake Hamlet Plan Neighbourhood C Conceptual Scheme will align with the policy intent for the land within the Cochrane North Area Structure Plan.
