Project Updates

A subdivision application has been submitted for the preliminary phases of Neighbourhood C in alignment with the approved Conceptual Scheme (2024). This application takes the guidance of the Conceptual Scheme policies and Land Use Bylaw regulations and applies them to a plan for the legal division of land for development.

Guiding Principles

The following principles will guide the development of Neighbourhood C in alignment with the Conceptual scheme and the Cochrane Lake Hamlet Plan:

Provide a variety of housing options to support a range of lifestyles and lifecycles
Create a strong neighbourhood character, supporting the vision for Cochrane Lake Hamlet as the Community Heart
Create a pedestrian-oriented and walkable neighbourhood with a focus on connected open spaces
Respect the natural features and topography of the land
Ensure appropriate transitions to neighbouring agricultural uses and residents
Respect the capacity of the local and regional infrastructure systems

Introducing JL Developments

As the Cochrane Lake Neighbourhood C project has progressed from the early planning stages towards development, a new group, JL Developments, has purchased the lands to develop in accordance with the already approved policies. JL Developments is a family-run, boutique community builder focused on investment, development, and management of residential communities across Alberta. JL is currently redeveloping a new slope adaptive, amenity-rich community in the Town of Cochrane called West Hawk. JL has furthered its commitment to the greater Cochrane region through the purchase of 118 acres of residential land within the Cochrane Lakes Hamlet plan creating Sky Ranch, a nature inspired new community.
